The National Gallery’s Sainsbury Wing reopens today, 10 May 2025, after a transformative two year renovation led by @selldorfarchitects. This £85 million project marks the Gallery’s 200th anniversary, introducing a more welcoming and accessible entrance with a spacious, light-filled foyer and step-free access from Trafalgar Square.
Inside, C C Land: The Wonder of Art brings together over 1,000 works, including newly restored icons like Piero della Francesca’s Baptism of Christ and Uccello’s Battle of San Romano and it’s all curated to flow more intuitively than before. Think timeless masterpieces, but in a space that feels fresh and quietly grand.
New additions include Locatelli’s sleek restaurant and Bar Giorgio, if you fancy a post-gallery bite (which I recommend) and the Pigott Theatre which will host talks and performances.
